The Times and Independent i report on the suicide of a Palestinian bus driver whose body was discovered overnight on Sunday inside his bus in a depot in Jerusalem. The Times notes that the autopsy of Yousef al-Ramouni was conducted in the presence of a Palestinian pathologist. Mr al-Ramoni’s family has not accepted the findings, insisting that he was murdered by Jewish extremists and that he would not have killed himself. The Independent i reported that the report of Mr al-Ramouni’s death led to rioting by Palestinians in Jerusalem and that PLO Spokesperson Hanan Ashrawi blamed the death on the “crimes of the settlers.”

The BBC News website covers Israel’s decision to allow same-sex parents to officially appear on its ID cards. Until now, one parent had to be listed as the father and another as the mother regardless of the actual sex of the parents. The change allows for two parents to both be listed as mothers or fathers.

A long analysis piece by David Usborne in the Independent claims that time is running out for a nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers. He notes that the ultimate decision on the Iranian side will be taken by Ayatollah Khamenei, while US President Barack Obama is under pressure not to compromise from Congressmen on both sides and regional allies including Israel and Saudi Arabia. A BBC News piece also lays out the issues at stake and the pressures on both parties.

The Times reports that the United Arab Emirates has banned some UK Muslim organisations as being “terrorist” groups. These include the Muslim Association of Britain, the Cordoba Foundation and Islamic Relief. The report notes that these organisations are perceived as linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that Islamic Relief had already been proscribed by Israel for allegedly funding Hamas.

A Guardian article cites the Global Terrorism Index, which says 18,000 people were killed by terrorism in 2013. This is a 60 per cent rise since 2012.

The Telegraph carries the obituary of Dorian ‘Doc’ Paskowitz, a “Jewish surfing guru” who brought surfing to Israel and later founded Surfing for Peace to give surfboards to Gazans.

Many of the Israeli newspapers focus on domestic political issues. Maariv and Yediot Ahronot report that the coalition parties ae trying to calm down political tensions after a few days of political instability that seemed to be leading towards early elections.

Yediot Ahronot covers an attempt by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Jewish Home’s Ayelet Shaked to draft a new version of the ‘Jewish State’ Bill. The bill was previously blocked by Ms Livni because she felt disagreed with an earlier draft, claiming it damaged Israel’s democratic character.

Maariv, Yediot Ahronot and Haaretz report that pathologists have found the death of the Palestinian bus driver on Sunday night to be suicide.

Israel Radio and Army Radio reported this morning on a terrorist attack on a synagogue, where four worshipers were killed and seven injured in an attack by two Palestinian men armed with a gun and axes. The terrorists were killed by police while trying to escape from the synagogue. The story is developing.
