The Times, Telegraph, Evening Standard, and BBC all report on the stabbing attack at the Israeli embassy in Amman which resulted in the deaths of two Jordanians, one of whom was the assailant and the other a bystander caught in the crossfire. The papers note that the incident has the potential to disrupt diplomatic relations between Israel and the US. The embassy staff were evacuated last night amid fears the incident may lead to riots in Amman.

The Guardian and the BBC report that the Israeli Security Cabinet has decided to remove the metal detectors from the entrance to the al-Aqsa mosque. The government plans to replace them with “less obtrusive surveillance” according to the BBC.

The Israeli media coverage continues to focus on Israel-Jordan relations and the return of the security guard to Israel from Amman. Yediot Ahronot and Maariv both quote the security guard who on his return said, “I’‎m very grateful, I Knew the entire country was behind us”.

In its Yediot Ahronot writes that, “Netanyahu should send a bouquet of flowers this morning to security officer Ziv from the Israeli embassy in Amman and thank him, and his good luck, for the clash in the living quarters of the embassy workers. The clash cost the lives of two Jordanian citizens, but provided Netanyahu with the ladder that enabled him to end the folly of the metal detectors on the Temple Mount. This was one gift that didn’‎t violate the gifts law. Hallelujah.”

Maariv reflects on Israel-Jordan relations claiming that, “‎King Abdullah is Israel’‎s ally. His regime maintains military and security ties with Israel, so it is not in his interest to stop playing by the rules. Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, understand his hardship. But the problem is not only the shooting incident. The problem can also be leveraged as a solution to the broader al-Aqsa crisis.”

Yediot Ahronot also includes analysis that compares President Obama’s attentiveness when there was a crisis at the Israeli Embassy in Cairo. Obama stayed awake all night and handled it personally speaking to both Netanyahu and Egyptian leaders.

Kan radio news notes Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked King Abdullah of Jordan for the close cooperation. Netanyahu also thanked US President Trump, who instructed sent his envoy Jason Greenblatt to the region to help in the efforts to return the embassy staff home quickly.

Israel Hayom continues to cover the testimony of the Salomon family from the terror attack in Halamish on Friday night as well as the stabbing attack in Petach Tikva yesterday.

Haaretz quotes Defence Minister Lieberman who blames the recent terror attacks on incitement by Israel Arab members of Knesset.

Times of Israel reports that a man from Gaza crossed over into Israel with a knife, and was caught by IDF.

Maariv includes a report by UNICEF that air pollution in Israel is one of the worst in the developed world.
