The wave of attacks on Israelis continued yesterday as four people were injured, one critically, in separate stabbings in Jerusalem.

The first of yesterday’s attacks occurred at the Lion’s Gate entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. Border policemen asked to check a man acting suspiciously, but as he moved towards them he attempted to stab one of the officers, who was not hurt in the incident thanks to a protective vest. The assailant was shot and killed at the scene by Border Police.

During the afternoon, an 18-year-old female stabbed a Border Police officer in the Ammunition Hill area of Jerusalem, near to the Israel Police headquarters. An officer noticed her acting suspiciously and asked her to stop. However, she moved towards the officer and stabbed him. Despite being injured in the attack, the policeman shot the assailant, who was transported to hospital in moderate condition.

Just an hour later, in the northern Jerusalem neighbourhood of Pisgat Ze’ev, a 13-year-old boy and his 15-year-old cousin from nearby Beit Hanina stabbed a man in his 20s and then turned their knives on a 13-year-old riding his bike, who is in critical condition. A passer-by gave chase and was quickly joined by police, who shot the attackers after they ignored calls to stop. One was killed and the other injured.

Yesterday evening, a terrorist on the 185 bus near the entrance to Jerusalem stabbed a soldier and attempted to steal his weapon. The attacker was overpowered by passengers and police who quickly arrived on the scene.

Meanwhile, unrest continued in the West Bank yesterday, although protests by locals and clashes with Israeli troops occurred in smaller numbers than in previous days. Also yesterday, around 20 Palestinians breached the Gaza border fence, but were forced back by IDF forces.
