Israeli man stabbed in his home by Palestinian attacker

A Palestinian intruder stabbed an Israeli man in his West Bank home and was subsequently shot dead by the man he attacked.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon at the Mor Farm outpost in the south Hebron Hills. The 33-year-old Israeli resident heard a noise outside his house and went to investigate. According to YNet, he saw a Palestinian man armed with two knives who pursued him as he ran back into his home to get his pistol. The attacker stabbed the man in front of his wife and children but the victim was able to reach his weapon and shoot the assailant at the scene. The attacker died at the house but the victim suffered light knife injuries to his limbs.

The Palestinian Authority Health Ministry named the attacker as 24-year-old, Said Muhammad Ali Qisiyeh, from al-Dharia, near Hebron. There has been no suggestion yet that Qisiyeh was affiliated to any specific terror group.

Following the attack, Israeli soldiers searched the Mor Farm outpost and the nearby Teneh Omarim settlement, to rule out the possibility that another attacker was involved. Local residents were instructed to stay in their homes while the search was conducted.

Since October 2015, 46 people have been killed in stabbings, car rammings and shooting attacks carried out by Palestinian assailants. The Hebron area has been a focal point for many of the attacks.

Although the violence has largely dissipated during the past several months, sporadic attacks have continued. Last month, a Palestinian man from a village close to the West Bank city of Nablus opened fire on a group of students at a bus stop in the central Israeli city of Petach Tikva, resulting in several injuries.
