New IDF tank defence successfully tested

[ssba]

The IDF Armored Corps successfully installed a new armor-defence system that defends tanks from anti-tank missile attacks. The developers of the system said yesterday that the US had completed a six week test of the system and the results were highly successful. The system uses sensors and radar to identify incoming missiles and dispatches a small blast of buckshot materials which neutralises the incoming missile and prevents the strike on the tank.

The system was successfully tested yesterday during an IDF operation near the Gaza border, where an anti-tank missile fired by gunmen in Gaza was neutralised by the system. It was the first case on record to see a system of this type successfully implemented on the battle field. The system was developed following experience in the Second Lebanon War, when Hezbollah used advanced anti-tank missiles on IDF tanks. In addition, several terror groups in Gaza are known to have obtained a range of anti-tank missiles.
