Pro-Palestinian Facebook pages call for June march on Israel’s borders

[ssba]

A number of pro-Palestinian Facebook pages are issuing calls for Palestinians to take part in mass marches on Israel’s borders on 5 June, in the framework of remembering the Arab defeat in the Six Day War of 1967 – known in Arabic as the ‘Naksa’ (setback). Munir Maqdah, a Fatah representative in Lebanon, said that next Sunday would see Palestinian marches toward Israel’s borders from Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and Jordan. Similar marches took place on the Lebanese border and the Golan Heights on 15 May, to commemorate the ‘Nakba’ (catastrophe). Two demonstrators were killed in the clashes on the Syrian border and between three and ten people were killed near the Lebanese border.

Still, at this time, no concrete plans for any march have been posted on social media websites.
