Two Israelis were wounded in a knife attack in the coastal city of Netanya, just hours after a 13-year-old Israeli girl was murdered in her bed by a Palestinian terrorist.

Hallel Yaffe Ariel, a dual Israeli-American citizen, died from multiple stab wounds after the terrorist broke into the family home in the West Bank community of Kiryat Arba, close to Hebron. The attacker, who was later identified as 17-year-old Muhammad Nasser Tarayrah from a nearby Palestinian village, was shot and killed by security forces who quickly arrived on the scene. Tarayrah stabbed and wounded one of the security officers during the altercation. Ariel was buried that afternoon.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the murder was no different from other recent terror attacks in Orlando, Turkey and Belgium. He said: “You don’t murder a sleeping child for peace. You don’t slit a little girl’s throat to protest a policy you don’t like.”

Instead, he said the terrorist had been “brainwashed by a warped ideology,” and that “we will not let barbarism defeat humanity”.

Meanwhile, in Netanya, located north of Tel Aviv, a Palestinian man from the nearby West Bank city of Tulkarm stabbed and wounded two Israelis in the city’s market area. A man in his forties was seriously wounded, while a woman in her sixties suffered lighter injuries.

The attacker, later named as 40-year-old Wael Abu Saleh, was shot and killed by an armed civilian at the scene. Israeli security forces searched the area for an accomplice after reports that Abu Saleh was dropped off at the market by a car just moments before the attack.

In a further attack this morning, a Palestinian attacker tried to stab a border policemen in Hebron. She was shot and killed by the security services.

Since a wave of violence erupted in October, at least 38 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian terror attacks. A period of relative calm was punctuated by a shooting attack in Tel Aviv’s Sarona entertainment district, which resulted in the death of four Israelis.
