Oded Eran on the UN vote on Palestinian statehood
In September, the Palestinians are expected to seek UN support for Palestinian statehood. To better understand the implications of this, BICOM is speaking to a wide range of analysts and commentators from the region. In our latest podcast, Dr Oded Eran, the director of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv, talks about the dangerous implications of a UN move for the peace process and stability in the West Bank. Dr Eran has been the INSS’s director since 2008, following a long career in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government positions. He also serves as an advisor to the Knesset Subcommittee on Foreign Affairs. He previously served as Israel’s ambassador to the European Union (covering NATO), Israel’s ambassador to Jordan, head of Israel’s negotiations team with the Palestinians and deputy chief of the Israeli embassy in Washington. Dr Eran holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
