Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “what is happening and could happen in Egypt is troubling, and what has happened in Sinai in the past year, and I can even say in the past number of years, is very troubling. Sinai has become a Wild West of sorts in which all kinds of groups—terror organizations from Hamas and Islamic Jihad and al-Qaida with Iranian aid are using that area to smuggle arms, to bring arms in, to generate attacks on Israel—we saw what happened at the border. But we are working in keeping with that reality and, incidentally, are acting in cooperation and continual dialogue with the Egyptian government, which is also troubled by that.”
