The latest escalation between Israel and Hamas in November was the most severe since the last major round of armed conflict in the summer of 2014. Hamas and other armed factions fired around 500 rockets and mortar shells into Israel in less than two days, while Israel carried out strikes against some 160 targets in Gaza.
