The positions taken by Olmert and Tzipi Livni, the foreign minister at the time, were known to the Israeli public in real time; the map that Olmert presented to Abbas was published about a year ago in Haaretz. This time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refrained from assailing his predecessors over their proposals to the Palestinians – maybe because he doesn’t want to paint himself into a corner.”
