Mossad chief says Israel has “eyes and ears” in Iran

The Director of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, Yossi Cohen, told a conference at the Finance Ministry that Israel has strong intelligence sources embedded within Iran.

He told the conference: “We have eyes, ears and more than that in Iran.” Cohen warned that Iran has a long-term strategy for establishing their supremacy in the Middle East, explaining that “without impediment, Iran has been sending a lot of troops, including the Revolutionary Guard, to destinations in the Middle East. That has resulted in the creation of an air and land corridor that is pouring into the region Shi’ite combatants”.

Referring to the cooperation between Hezbollah and the Assad regime in Syria, he noted that “along with the Shi’ites on our northern border, small and very troubling coalitions have been formed”.

Cohen welcomed the recent protests in Iran, but warned that “no one ought to build up expectations about those demonstrations” because they face “the forces of hell, which have made a very big effort — and without upholding human rights — to face off against anyone who tries to raise their head”.

Also yesterday, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the US and Israel of having spent months preparing demonstrations within Iran and praised a “massive movement of the people against the plots of the enemies”. “The money came from the rich governments of the Persian Gulf,” he claimed.
