Saturday night’s demonstration was the 40th to take place near the home of Attorney-General Mandelblit in Goren Square in the Kfar Ganim neighbourhood to protest the alleged delays in handling the investigations of Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife.

Kan Radio reports that the High Court of Justice heard a petition from the Movement for Quality Government, and has given the Israel Police until 4pm today to explain why the police banned the demonstration on Saturday night.

Haaretz reports that Egypt is mediating in Syria and attempting to block Iran with the blessing of Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Kan Radio reports that the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court has extended the remand of a young Palestinian man who was arrested in Netanya by four days. Police found that he did not have a permit to be in Israel and discovered a knife in his possession. The suspect, 21 years of age, admitted under questioning that he had planned to carry out a stabbing attack.

Kan Radio also reports that the family of Abera Mengistu, one of three Israelis who is being held in Gaza, will celebrate his 31st birthday on Wednesday. Mengistu has been held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip for nearly three years.
