In the UK and international media today, all papers note that Iran blamed Israel for the latest killing of an Iranian nuclear scientist by a car bomb in Tehran. BBC Online reports that the US condemned the nuclear scientist killing and denied any involvement in the attack. The papers also note that a French cameraman was killed by a grenade in the city of Homs marking the first Western journalist to die in the Syrian uprising. The Independent reports that an internal EU report says that the EU is on the verge of giving up hope for a viable Palestinian state. The Financial Times notes that Syrian exiles are fleeing to Cairo and are continuing the protests against President Assad’s regime from the Egyptian capital.

On the Israeli front pages today, all papers carry the story of the Iranian nuclear scientist who was killed by a car bomb in Tehran yesterday.

Haaretz and Ynetnews report that the Saudi hacker that published last week a list of Israel credit card details online has published another list with 200 Israeli card details. Haaretz and the Jerusalem Post note that Military Intelligence Chief Major General Aviv Kochavi said yesterday that Iran and Hezbollah are supporting and sending weaponry to President Bashar Assad’s regime. Haaretz reports that Western powers are continuing to put pressure on Iran’s nuclear programme but a fifth round of sanctions at the UN Security Council looks unlikely due to the veto of Russia and China. The papers also note that Gilad Shalit met with French officials and thanked France and German leaders for their “unlimited support” in securing his release from captivity after 5 years. Ynetnews report on an official document by EU delegates criticising Israel’s policies in the West Bank, and suggests that the EU must pursue ventures in Israeli-controlled area C even without Israel’s co-operation.
