Yediot Ahronot and Haaretz report that Netanyahu was questioned last night for the sixth time. He was questioned at his residence for four hours and asked about the gifts affair – Case 1000, and about conversations with Noni Mozes, the publisher of Yediot AhronotCase 2000.  The police are believed to have focused on the reciprocal relationship between Netanyahu and businessman Arnon Milchan. Channel 10 last night reported Sara Netanyahu’s version of events in which she said: “The amounts that they claim to have brought us are totally baseless. They are making things up about us that never happened.”  Yediot Ahronot also reports on Case 3000, the investigation into the purchase of submarines and naval vessels.  The police offered David Shimron, Netanyahu’s associate and cousin, the chance to become a state witness, Shimron declined the offer.

Haaretz includes the headline, “Israel has secret contacts with Saudi Arabia” based on an interview on Army Radio with Likud  Minister Yuval Steinitz who said:  “We have ties that are indeed partly covert with many Muslim and Arab countries, and usually (we are) the party that is not ashamed.  It’s the other side that is interested in keeping the ties quiet. With us, usually, there is no problem, but we respect the other side’s wish, when ties are developing, whether it’s with Saudi Arabia or with other Arab countries or other Muslim countries, and there is much more … but we keep it secret.”

Maariv and  Yediot Ahronot report the fall out of Rivlin’s decision to reject the request to pardon Elor Azraia. He was heavily criticised by right wing politicians. Ben Caspit writes in Maariv, “Like a pack of starving dogs, MKs from the right pounced on President Reuven Rivlin for having the gall to defy them, to ignore the fulminating herd on social media and to refuse to grant Elor Azaria a pardon. Maariv focuses on the disagreement between Defence Minister Lieberman and Gadi Eisenkot, IDF Chief of Staff,  reporting: “Lieberman was unwilling to make do with the Chief of Staff’s decision to shorten Azaria’s sentence by four months, and took his own initiative. He advised the president, contrary to the position taken by the chief of staff and the judge advocate general, to pardon Azaria. He issued a statement last night saying that he regretted the president’s decision to reject Azaria’s request for a pardon.”

Haaretz reports the Jerusalem court’s decision that the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the terrorists who carried out a deadly shooting attack on an Israeli motorway in 2001 must pay 62 million shekels (£13.3 million) in damages to the families of the victims.  Three Israelis were killed including the parents of two young girls, their mother died while shielding them with her own body.

Yediot Ahronot reports that an IDF tank fired another warning shot on a Syrian military position last night in the northern Golan Heights.  The IDF says Syria violated the 1974 ceasefire agreement on the Golan Heights by using heavy tools at a military positon in the demilitarised zone between the countries. The IDF complained to the United Nations peacekeeping force on the Golan and fired a tank shell as a warning.
