Israelis warned of Iranian terror plot in Turkey

[ssba]

The Israeli Counter Terrorism Bureau on Tuesday issued a travel advisory warning to Israelis to avoid visiting Turkey. The government agency warned of heightened terror threat in the coming days after alerting Turkish authorities of an Iranian plot against Israeli and Jewish targets.

“Iranian elements will try to seek out Israeli businessmen and Jews in other locations around the world – not just in Turkey,” one Israeli official told Ynet News.

Turkey’s NTV network reported a few days ago that Israeli intelligence agencies contacted the Turkish National intelligence Organisation and warned of the arrival of four Iranians who were believed to be connected to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. The group was suspected of plotting an attack on Israeli tourists, diplomats or Jewish communities in Turkey. The men were believed to be carrying weapons and bomb-making materials with them.

The Israeli warning came weeks after a string of attacks against Israeli targets, allegedly carried out by Iranian agents in Georgia, Thailand, India and Azerbaijan.
