A series of new flotillas plan to set sail to Gaza over the coming months

A two-ship flotilla that left Turkey on Wednesday and is heading for the Gaza strip is the first in a series of small flotillas scheduled to arrive over the next few months, according to one of the organisers. Huwaida Arraf, from the Free Gaza movement, said that organisers are planning quietly the next flotillas in order to avoid bureaucratic or political delays in sending the aid ships. Arraf confirmed that more flotillas would be sent to show the world that “Gaza is still under siege”.

The current flotilla, named “Freedom Waves” is carrying around 30 activists, and according to the Israeli Navy it will be prevented from entering into Gaza waters. The US issued an official warning to the US activists on board advising them against taking part in the activity. “US citizens attempting to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza could face action for violating Israeli and American law,” a statement said.
