The Arab League yesterday affirmed its support for the Palestinian plan to seek support for a unilateral declaration of statehood at the United Nations General Assembly. A meeting of Arab foreign ministers in the Qatari capital of Doha pledged to ” take all necessary measures and to rally needed support of all world countries, starting with members of the security council, to recognise the state of Palestine … and to win full membership of the United Nations.” Washington, however, is expected to use its veto in the Security Council to block any such move.
