Cameron: the UK will not attend Durban III anti-racism conference

[ssba]

Prime Minister David Cameron yesterday decided that the UK would not take part in the UN sponsored Durban III anti-racism conference on 22 September, due to the anti-Semitic displays carried out at the event. “No one should be in any doubt: this Government is 100 per cent committed to tackling racism both at home and abroad,” Cameron said. “But those aims cannot be met by accepting this invitation.” Cameron pointed out that in the past the conference saw open displays of anti-Semitism and said that it would be wrong to engage in such events.

The UK joins Germany, the US and Australia in declining the invitation to attend the 10-year anniversary since the first event.
