IDF strikes Gaza following mortar attacks

[ssba]

The Israel Air Force carried out a strike on the northern Gaza Strip last night, following two separate mortar barrages on Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip yesterday. One of the mortar shells landed in a parking lot in the area of the Shaar Hanegev regional council. One car was damaged. There were no reports of injuries. The Islamic Jihad organisation claimed responsibility for the attacks. The IAF strike was on two targets in Gaza, and on a tunnel which, according to the IDF, was intended to be used to smuggle Palestinian terrorists into Israel for the purpose of carrying out attacks. Eight people were lightly injured in the strike. The Islamic Jihad mortar barrage came three days after the firing of three Grad missiles on the town of Netivot earlier this week.
