Israel wary of revenge attacks following Bin-Laden killing

[ssba]

The Airports Authority in Israel has increased the alert level at the country’s airports and border crossings, due to concerns at possible revenge attacks following the killing of Osama Bin-Laden.  Security has also been increased around the offices of Israeli airlines abroad, and around Jewish communal institutions internationally. There is concern also in Israel at the possibility that US institutions in the country could be targets of attack. According to a report in Ynetnews today, Nissim Mor, Head of Operations of the Israel Police, has instructed relevant local police forces to map out all American missions and institutions. The authorities have also noted a number of relatively small gatherings held to mourn the killing of Bin-Laden. In the Silwan neighbourhood of East Jerusalem yesterday, stones were thrown at police after dozens of residents gathered for a rally to protest the killing.
