British Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne is scheduled to launch a new ‘High Tech Hub’ at the British Embassy in Tel Aviv this evening. Osborne will take part in this event as part of his first official visit to Israel. The intention of the High Tech Hub is to create lasting partnerships between Israeli and British high tech companies, to the mutual benefit of the two countries’ economies. Around 300 leading figures in the Israeli business, financial and high tech sectors are due to attend the event this evening.

The hub will consist of six staff members, including experts in the fields of digital, cleantech, biotech and the Arab Israeli high-tech community. The British co-chair of the Council will be Minister of State for Universities and Science David Willetts. Following the establishment of the High Tech Hub, the next step is intended to be the creation of a UK-Israeli High Tech Council, bringing together key figures and new developments in this sector from both countries.
