Egypt begins delivery of one million litres of fuel to Gaza

The Financial Times reports that a cyber security start-up founded by former Israeli cyber security officer Lior Div has received US$100m from SoftBank to fund its expansion. Cybereason uses artificial intelligence to track hackers as they move through a network without the need for human supervision.

The i reports that Egypt has begun to deliver one million litres of diesel fuel to Gaza’s power plant in a deal to alleviate the Gaza energy crisis. The Times expresses concern that the Egypt-Hamas agreement, brokered by expelled senior Fatah member Mohammad Dahlan, will only “deepen the crisis with Ramallah”, and reports that Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas is already working to halt Egypt’s shipments to Gaza.

Maariv reports on the Gaza electricity crisis and the deal with Egypt to send diesel fuel. Yossi Melman writes that Israel had a hand in the agreement, arguing that “acting in response to Israel’‎s request – though Israel won’‎t admit that – [Egypt] yesterday transported 11 diesel tankers [into Gaza]”. However, Melman warns that it is only a temporary solution.

Israel Hayom reports on 7,000 new housing units planned for construction over the Green Line in the Jewish neighborhoods of Gilo, Har Homa, Pisgat Zeev, Ramat Shlomo and Ramot. According to the report, the Prime Minister’‎s Office has instructed the Jerusalem District Committee for Planning and Construction to expedite the bureaucratic procedures so as to allow for construction to begin. Army Radio claims that this decision came as a consequence of a story on Monday in which the Jerusalem planning committee described the freezing of a variety of building plans by Prime Minister Netanyahu.
