Hezbollah suspected of terror threats to Israeli embassies

The Daily Telegraph, Reuters, Guardian, BBC Online and the Daily Mirror have articles today on concerns in Egypt that the army may try to slow the pace and limit the scope of political reform. The Guardian, Scotsman, Financial Times and Reuters focus on protests in Bahrain this week. The Evening Standard, Daily Mirror, Financial Times, Independent and Metro-London note the protests in Iran.  The Guardian, Independent and Scotsman have analyses of the events in Egypt and their significance for the region. Reuters has a profile of Mohammed al-Baradei, and asks if he may lead Egypt in the future. BBC Online notes remarks by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismissing the protests in Iran. The Glasgow Herald notes ongoing strikes in Egypt. The Guardian reviews a documentary about children in Gaza. The Independent reviews a new play about the Hebron massacre of 1994. 

In the Israeli media, Haaretz and the Jerusalem Post note Turkish insistence that Israel apologise for the incidents on the Mavi Marmara ship last year. Haaretz has additional pieces on a warning of possible terror attacks against Israeli embassies, and Israel’s summoning of the Jordanian ambassador over calls in Jordan for the release of a soldier who murdered a number of Israeli schoolgirls. The Jerusalem Post, meanwhile, has additional items on EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton’s urging of Israel to come up with proposals to move forward the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and the remarks by the Iranian president dismissing the protests in Iran. Ynetnews notes Iranian claims that the Stuxnet worm did little damage, and reports on the Knesset’s approval of the first reading of a bill which would see penalties imposed on Israelis advocating a boycott of Israel.
