BICOM Briefing: The first Bennett-Biden meeting – What’s at stake

[ssba]

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will travel to Washington DC today for his first official international trip since assuming office. The Biden-Bennett meeting will build on recent discussions between senior officials and is intended to restore the US-Israel relationship to what the sides see as a ‘healthier’ place. The visit comes at a challenging time politically and strategically for both leaders, where Bennett will likely seek to place Iran front and centre, whilst Biden will be at pains to raise the Palestinian issue and the need to keep open the window for a two-state solution.

This BICOM Briefing outlines the background of the meeting, where agreements and disagreements appear in the topics the two leaders are planning to discuss, and what is at stake for both countries.
