IDF demolition of illegal West Bank outpost triggers clashes with settlers

[ssba]

Violent clashes broke out early this morning during the eviction of the “Yisa Bracha” outpost in the West Bank, next to the Mitzpeh Yeriho settlement, according to an IDF Army Radio report. A security force of hundreds, including a civil destruction crew and police, arrived on the scene in the early hours of this morning. During the operation to raze the six houses, six settlers and three police were lightly wounded. The police were apparently hurt when they climbed onto the roof of one of the buildings in order to bring someone down, causing the roof to cave in.

Also this morning, an illegal building in the Oz Zion outpost in the Binyamin area next to Givat Yosef was demolished, and security forces razed a tent on Hilltop 18 near Kiryat Arba.

Last week, the IDF demolished the illegal West Bank outpost Mitzpe Avichai near Kiryat Arba. This was the third outpost to be demolished by the IDF and the Civil Administration this week, with Givat Arye and Gal Yossef, both near Shilo, being evicted earlier that week.

Migron, the largest illegal outpost in the West Bank, home to fifty families, is due to be evacuated by the end of March according to a High Court ruling. The government is continuing to negotiate with the residents to find a solution in which they will move voluntarily to another location.
